SEAFOOD & CHICKEN BOX's press release announcing the move to Trussville
Economy Slow But Affordable Southern Food Brings In Loyal PatronsThe Magic City’s Premier Destination for Chicken and Seafood Going Strong, Moving to New Location
Birmingham, Alabama - August 6, 2009 - For thirty-seven years, Birminghamians have flocked to Seafood & Chicken Box for great fried foods such as oysters, scallops, and chicken breasts, the latter of which was picked as
Southern Living magazine’s favorite in the entire Southeast. Previously located in Center Point, veteran owners Paul Gagliano Jr. and Carl Gagliano Sr. are ready to open the doors in Trussville as they have relocated their long-running restaurant.
Excited about the move, Paul Gagliano Jr. says, “Hard work, dedication, and determination to keep the quality of food up have been key in maintaining our customer base. We give them a great meal at a fair price, which is a must for any restaurant that wants to be successful, especially in the current economy. Plus, the move is going to put us closer to where many of our customers live.”
Two such customers are Larry and Nancy Byrum. “Twenty years ago, we heard about Seafood & Chicken Box from a neighbor, tried it, and we were hooked,” says Mrs. Byrum, and apparently she is not just referring to her husband and herself. “My dogs come running up to me when they see me bring home the boxes with leftovers.” Mr. Byrum notes that the secret recipe seasoning that goes on all the food and the reasonable pricing are the main draws for him and his wife but says they also appreciate the friendly atmosphere: “We always have an excellent experience because the owners make it more personal than going to some chain restaurant.”
Jane Ellis, another patron, has been eating at Seafood & Chicken Box two to three times a week ever since it originally opened. She credits her husband Tom with introducing her to the chicken when they started dating. “The taste is unique. It’s something you don’t get tired of and won’t find anywhere else,” says Mrs. Ellis.
In thanks to their customers, Seafood & Chicken Box has planned a special Grand Re-Opening Week, which will include the unveiling of new menu selections (including healthy options like salads and grilled items), drawings for free gifts, and a Customer Appreciation Wall on display at the new location.
“Relocating is about serving our customers better as well as making improvements for us in the kitchen,” says Gagliano. His wife Rosemary adds, “As part of our move, we also wanted to get up to speed in the twenty-first century by having a web presence, not just our own website but also pages on
myspace and
facebook.”
In fact, there is even a special give-away that is available only to those who are fans of Seafood & Chicken Box’s page on
facebook.com. Mrs. Gagliano explains, “We wanted to offer them something exclusive because it’s been a delight to see how supportive and encouraging their
facebook comments have been during the relocation process.”
The first day of the Grand Re-Opening Week will be Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the new location: 5954 Chalkville Mountain Road, Suite 200, Birmingham, Alabama 35235.
